Study Kits & Assignments

Study Kits are all-in-one study tools with multiple resources for students, all aligned to the content you upload or describe. Inside a Study Kit, Smart Study is Thea's signature feature, offering adaptive questions based on each student's progress. Study Kits also include flashcards with spaced repetition, interactive games, and an editable Study Guide you can customize before sharing.

Assignments let you create high-quality practice questions — like multiple choice, short answer, true/false, and more — based on your own materials. Share the assignment link with students, who receive immediate feedback as they complete it. While you can delete questions you don't like, in-platform editing isn't currently supported; you can copy content to edit it outside of Thea.

You can use almost anything to build with. Here are the best types of materials to use:

  • Tests & study guides — Great for Study Kits or Assignments. Titles are visible to students, but content isn't.
  • Flashcards — Use the "Paste" option for exact term-definition sets.
  • Textbooks — Upload full books and direct Thea to specific pages.
  • Videos — Works with YouTube videos that have captions, including recorded lectures.
  • Handwritten notes — Supported! Try uploading and see.
  • Multiple files — You can upload several files at once.

How Thea Works

When you upload materials or describe your course, Thea extracts key concepts, terms, and context to generate aligned content. Your materials are never used to train AI models or shared with others.

Smart Study adapts in real-time to each student's performance. If a student is struggling, it offers easier questions or reinforces concepts. If a student is doing well, it introduces more challenging material and moves through content faster.

Yes! You can adjust the rigor, question types, and reading level using the Smart Study Settings tool — found to the far right of the Progress Bar. Use "Student View" to preview the experience and make sure it's just right for your learners.

In the rare case Thea doesn't capture the intent of your materials, you have a few options:

  • Upload more documents to provide additional context, or remove off-topic materials
  • Use the "Describe" feature to be more precise about the content's scope
  • Adjust Smart Study settings to guide Thea's focus
  • Edit the Study Guide manually if needed (this won't impact other parts of Thea)

Thea works well for most subjects, including sciences, social sciences, math (except full Geometry support), and widely known literature. For literature, Thea is best used as a review tool, as questions may reveal key plot points. For niche topics, detailed materials help Thea maximize its effectiveness.

Privacy & Data

Uploaded content is only used to support your students. It stays private and secure — never shared or reused elsewhere for any other purpose.

No. Thea does not use your uploaded content to train AI models. Your materials stay private and are never used beyond your intended use with your students.

No. Only students and educators you share with can see the titles of documents used to generate Study Kits or Assignments — never the contents. It is safe to upload past or upcoming tests to Thea.

Yes. Your IP is protected. Materials are never used to train AI models or shared with others — only you and your students benefit from the content you provide.

Yes. You can remove documents at any time and they will no longer be used in your Study Kits or Assignments. However, this won't revoke access for students you've already shared with — they'll retain the versions they received.

Access & Integrations

Students can currently log in using Google Classroom. Broader LMS integrations are under consideration, and updates will be shared as development progresses.

Thea is designed to be easy for students to access and use. If your school uses Google Classroom, students can log in with their school emails. Thea is listed as an educational platform with major web content filtering services. For schools with strict content filters, we recommend checking with your IT coordinator ahead of time — a draft email is available to help with this.
